Centre for Ecumenical Learning [CEL]:

CEL was started by ICSA in 1999 for creating public awareness on issues that affect the people in general and those of the vulnerable sections like the Dalits, tribals, religious minorities, etc.,  in particular. We conduct study courses, seminars, conferences for pastors, lay leaders, youth and social activists. We also undertake evaluation of social development projects.

We have a dialogical center which is available for civil society organizations and people's movements for conducting educational programs for members of general public.

Code of Transparency for the Churches :

(ICSA - CEL developed and adopted a Code of Transparency for churches at its consultation in Hyderabad in Dec 2001)

  • Avoidance of leasing out of church properties for 98 or 99 years and sale of properties with the reason of meeting the current liabilities.
  • Not to attempt closure of institutions, which were, centers of empowerment but to revamp the efficiency in serving the poor.

  • To strictly utilize the finance that are earmarked for specific programs and purposes without mismanagement and diversion.

  • To adhere to at least a minimum labor standards with fair appointments, selection procedures, issuing of employment contract letters, pension benefits to church employees and the families of the deceased.

  • To avoid involvement of family members in the decision making as well as administrative bodies of the Church.

  • To restrain from pursuing litigations and avoid decades of pendancy of cases and seriously attempt to establish "Ecumenical Adjudicating Authority" consisting of presiding officers (retired judicial & civil officials) appointed by respective churches.

  • To come forward voluntarily to declare the personal assets by the Heads of Churches and institutions in order to minimize the allegations of corruption and misappropriation and be transparent.
